What’s In A Name ?
On June 21st, 1916, Samuel died at the age of 57. On his death certificate, we read that his father was a certain Henry Kerlin and his mother a Maggie, a Maggie something.
How do you read it ?
I have decided that it reads Maggie Carbis. With no absolute proof at all, only mere , circumstantial bits of information, I’ve come to feel fairly sure that Samuel Kerlin ( and perhaps a younger brother) was raised by his maternal grandparents, Samuel and Mary Ann Carbis.
And so I continue to search for the missing link
