The Carbis’ In Pittsburgh, 1872
One very nifty place that I spend quite a bit of time at is Historic Pittsburgh. I have spent hours and hours examining the maps there as well as the census reports. This is where I found the Carbis connection, in fact.
Right now, I have about 20 links to Historic Pittsburgh in my bookmarks, and so- before my computer crashes and I lose them all, I shall try and put some of them up. For my own reference.
Close up here.
Just to the left of the s in 21st Ward is the home of Samuel Carbis, misspelled, as it often seems to be, but the same folks, in 1872.
I think.
I also find the Logan home, about 12 doors up, very interesting. I set great store upon proximity. Oh well, it’s as good a place as any to start at. After all, Samuel Carbis did marry a Logan and the only time our Carbis family ( seems to) appear in a Pittsburgh Census is in 1870.
By 1880, they are gone, once more.
