This Indenture made the 14th day of September in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twelve. Between Robert Kerlin and Hannah his wife of the county of Frederick + state of Virginia of the one part, and Ann Kean widow and *–* of John Kean dec’d and Joseph Kean Robert B. White who intermarried with Elizabeth Kean and Ann Kean which said Joseph Elizabeth and Ann are heirs and legal representatives of said John Kean dec’d of the other part, witnesseth that the said Robert Kerlin and Hannah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars current money of the United States unto them in hand paid by the said Ann Kean + * o * at or before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, and there of do release, acquit and discharge the said Ann + * o * their heirs, executors, administrators by these presents, the said Robert Kerlin + Hannah his wife have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Ann Kean and the aforesaid heirs of John Kean dec’d their heirs and assigns a certain lot of land situate in a addition made to the town of Winchester by James Wood, and known and distinguished in the plan thereof by the number four and bounded as * follows with * Beginning at the corner of Lot No. 5 and running with Saint Martins lane 108 feet one inch to the corner of Amherst Street and extending thence with said street 74 feet to the back line of said lot thence with the back line 108 feet one inch to the line of said lot number five and thence 74 feet to the Beginning being the same lot of land that was conveyed to Jacob Harmer by Mary Wood by deed dated the 25th June 1791 and recorded in the District court of Winchester and by the said Jacob Harmer + Margaret his wife conveyed to Michael * Graves *

by deed dated the 25th May 1792 and * now * of record in the county court of Frederick, and by the said Micheal * Groves* and Elizabeth his wife conveyed to said Robert Kerlin by Deed dated 10th Oct. 1801 and now in record in the corporation of Winchester. Also a certain part of lot No. 5 lying on Saint Martins lane 108 feet 4 inches in front and binding upon the lots of William Holliday James * Chipley* and said Robert Kerlin by Jacob Harmer and Margaret his wife by deed dated the 12th October 1805 and duly recorded in the corporation of Winchester together with all and singular, the rights, improvements, heredetaments and appurtenances whatsoever, there unto belonging, or in any wise appurtaining and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof. Also all the estate, right, title, interest use property, claim and demand whatsoever, of them the said Robert Kerlin and Hannah his wife in Law or equity of, and in the premises aforesaid, and every part thereof- To Have and to Hold all and singular, the premises, with the appurtenances here by granted unto the said Ann Kean + o their heirs assigns, to the only proper use and behoof of the Ann Kean + *e* their heirs and assigns forever and the said Robert Kerlin hereby covenants for himself and his heirs that he is seized of good and indefeasable estate of inheritance in the premises and that he hath good right to convey the same to the said Ann Kean +.o in manner aforesaid. And lastly, that the said Robert Kerlin + Hannah his wife and their heirs all and singular the premises hereby granted with their appurtenances unto the said Ann Kean +.e + their heirs and assigns, against the said Robert Kerlin + Hannah his wife and their heirs

and all and every other person and person, shall warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Testimony whereof, the said Robert Kerlin + Hannah his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

The Commonwealth of Virginia To Edw McGuire + Joseph * Lidball* Gent. justices of Frederick County Court, Greeting. Whereas Robert Kerlin and Hannah his wife have by their certain indenture of Bargain and sale bearing date the 14th day of September 1812 sold and conveyed unto Ann Kean widow and *—* of John Kean deceased and Joseph Kean Robert B. White who intermarried with Elizabeth Kean and Ann Kean which said Joseph Elizabeth and Ann are heirs and legal representatives of said John Kean dec’d a certain lot in Woods addition to the town of Winchester lying on Saint Martins lane and Amherst Street No. 4 also part of No. 5 lying on Saint Martins lane as by the said Indenture will appear + whereas the said Hannah cannot travel conveniently to the superior Court of law for Frederick County, to make acknowledgment of the said Indenture, therefore we do give unto you, or any *–* *–* more of you, power to receive the acknowledgment which the said Hannah shall be willing to make before you of the conveyance aforementioned in the said Indenture which is here unto *–* and *—*
