On the back of this picture, Bucky wrote Uncle Henry and Uncle Ed Vizard, Uncle Henry being Henry A. Kerlin.
As to a date- haven’t a clue. But I tend to think that it is from about the same time period as the other photos of Ed Vizard- around the wedding of 1915.

I imagine this photo was taken at the same time as the other photo. The handwriting on the back intrigues me- Gretta’s name is spelled wrong. Is it Ed Vizard’s handwriting ?

While not dated, I am guessing that this photo of Gretta Kerlin and Ed Vizard was taken shortly after they married in 1915.

1915 was a busy year for the Kerlins. On June 16th, Gretta married Ed Vizard in Detroit. None of the Kerlin’s seem to have attended the ceremony and Gretta may have fudged her age just a wee bit. According to the 1910 census, her birthday was June 24, 1894, which would make her just shy of her 21st birthday.
While it doesn’t mean much, I am sure, under color, the word white has been smudged out.

This photo of Gretta has 1915 written on the back, in Bucky’s handwriting. I can agree with that time period- Gretta’s clothing is still rather old fashioned, and she hasn’t bobbed ( or boobed as she writes later on the back of one of her photos) her hair yet.
I don’t know where the photo is taken, I’m guessing Pittsburgh, for most pictures of her have notes on the back in her handwriting- an attempt to keep in touch with The folks back home. This one doesn’t.
And so, perhaps, needs no explanation.
Note : this last summer, ( 2006) I saw photos of the same woman. I still need to examine them more closely, but I do now question whether or not this is Gretta Kerlin. It probably is, for the facial resemblance is remarkable. Another thing to add to the to do list.

Samuel Kerlin with his youngest daughter, Eva. I’m wondering if this was taken by the house on Thompson Street.
Close up here.
