Good News, Bad News
Today I received a thick envelope from the Mormons, filled with copies of Virginia Land Deeds from the early 1800′s. Each and everyone of them mentions Robert Kerlin. This is a big break.
Bad news is that between the poor quality of the scan and the handwriting, I can barely read them. Wait, I cannot read most of them at all. It’s like being at ebay.de yesterday, all over again.
I predict that I will be spending a lot of time in a well lit room, forcing language to reveal itself from these over sized pieces of paper.

Hey Robert -
Saw a reference to a Baltzer Getz book and not sure if was one I might have contributed to…I do have the Virginia Kerlin family pretty well mapped out along with some general idea of where in PA they came from. You may just be looking for Robert in 1810 in VA but if you’d like for further complicate your VA Kerlin search you can find Jacob Kerlin (misspelled as Kearling) in 1810 in Shenandoah County (next to “Barnet Getts” – who, incidentally, went by “Baltzer.”
Take care -
Matt

Hi Matt-
I actually contacted you a while back, in reference to this book which- I believe- was written by a cousin of yours !
All of my sites were hacked in July, and this one was totally erased. Through the help of friends, I have been able to replace all but my last few posts.
For now, I have ( I hope) closed access to copies of original photos and documents, but will in the future make them available once more.
I am pretty sure that Robert Kerlin was born in PA, just have no idea where and thank you for your Shenandoah tip. Robert had property in both Winchester and at Ceder Creek. I am very curious as to where- exactly Kearling lived. ( You cannot believe how many ways there are to mis-spell that name)
