Trying to locate an uncle or some other older relative that Wesley might have followed up into Kentucky, I looked through the 1840 census for Carroll County. Lot’s of Giltners, no Kerlins.
Then I stumbled upon this : The Hoaglands’ ancestor, Okey, married Mary Giltner, who was John Francis and Catharine’s g-granddaughter.
Okey Hoagland was the head of the family that Sarah Kerlin was living with ( right next door to H.T.) in the census of 1850.
Notes :
Cornelia’s parents were John Francis Schuyler Giltner, born March 3, 1761 in Heidelburg Twp. Leheigh,PA, died 1846 in NY. He married Otelia Yentzer. Their children were as follows:
Elizabeth, 1782
Catherine 1782 – 1811
George, 1783
Cornelia, 1787
John, 1788
Mary, 1790
Jacob, 1791
Laura, 1794,
Richard, 1796
Jane, 1800
Sally, 1804
Parmelia 1808.
I don’t have any information on Otelia parents.
Children of Johannes Frantz Giltner, Sr. (b 1716, d. 9/8/1779) and Catherine Ann Web(b)er, (b 5/28/1725, d. 1809) were as follows:

Rachael 1739 – 1766
